Established in 1994, the Xenis Collection is a unique and highly innovative range of fine musical wood dolls handcrafted in Canada. Marlene and Tania Xenis, a mother and daughter team, operate from a small shop located in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Marlene designed the original collection and had the idea of incorporating Reuge Musical Movements from Switzerland in the dolls. During the first year, all the painting of the doll's heads was done by Tania. The demand for these exquisite dolls grew and now a small team of highly-skilled artists have been trained to replicate the designs and produce them within the exceptionally high standards required. Each doll is uniquely numbered and named (after a geographical locations in Canada) and a register is kept by Marlene for the first destination of each doll. Each doll is signed by the appropriate artist on the back of it's wooden head and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and a Registration Card.

Anne of Green Gables She is 15" tall, hand painted on western maple, her body is maple, fully articulated, she stands on her own without the aid of a doll stand and she has an 18 note music box in her body playing the melody from the theatrical production "Anne of Green Gables" a beautiful melody. Brittania 22" Tall - All Wooden Body She is dressed in ruffled tafetta with tapestry vest, black velvet bonnet & cape, her petticoat and bloomers are from silk trimmed with tiny satin roses and she carries a lovely embroidered champagne coloured parasol. Her shoes are high top black button boots sculpted by one of our artists, then cast. Britannia comes with an antique reproduction tapestry upholstered wood chair. Melody - "Memory" from Cats.

Anne of Green Gables Anne's character has been perfectly captured with fiery red braids and large green eyes for our wooden Anne of Green Gables Musical Doll. Designed by Marlene Xenis & Ross Adams, she combines art, music, imagination and the wonderful Canadian story of Anne. Two uniquely different designs are available: a small "Anne" measuring 15" high, her body a mahogany music box, fitted with an 18 note musical mechanism. Small Anne comes with a small twig chair. The large "Anne" measuring 21" has a fully articulated wooden body and comes with an antique reproduction wood chair. She can stand alone, and is fitted with a 36 note musical movement which is visible through a window in her mid section. Anne's body is a mahogany music box fitted with the finest Swiss musical movement. Music is from the Prince Edward Island theatrical production of "Anne of Green Gables " on approval from composer and song writers Don Harron & Norman Campbell. Both Annes come with a copy of the "Authorized" version of the book "Anne of Green Gables" by Lucy Maud Montgomery.
